California Criminal Investigation Specialist Teams Up With "The Pettus Group" To Investigate Into a Murder Investigation Conviction of Cincinnati, Ohio Native "Zachary Pettus" - Convicted In Huntington Beach, California of Murder in 1983.
C. J. Ford Jr. private investigator does not believe that Zachary
Pettus committed this murder and is following up on leads that may acquit Mr. Pettus.
ANAHEIM, Calif., September 19, 2006- Zachary Pettus, convicted of murder in 1983 and now serving a life time sentence in Corcoran, California, may have new hope in his
20 year old case. C. J. Ford Jr. believes that they convicted the wrong person.
"I believe that the wrong person was convicted, says Ford. There were other suspects not questioned and the evidence was not tested properly. Orange County was very prejudice in the 80's. They convicted Mr. Pettus, a black man, in a crime that could have been committed by a black man, but they convicted the "wrong" black man.
Jewelry was found belonging to the victim in Mr. Pettus' room after three search warrants were conducted. Apparently the jewelry found in plain view, was missed in two previous searches of Mr. Pettus's bedroom.
"There is a surprising theory for how the jewelry showed up in the bedroom", says Ford. "I believe that we can positively prove that the jewelry was not there in the first two searches, and how it got there in the third search".
Ford gained notoriety in a “Death Row” case conducted for death row inmate Kenneth Clair. In this case Ford discovered physical evidence that the police department and authorities in Orange County, CA. said had been destroyed back in the late 1980's. Ford proved that the State's star witness was never with Mr. Clair on the night to which
she testified. Ford discovered DNA evidence that included fingerprints that were not tested, of a person that could have really killed the victim.
"I proved that Mr. Clair's counsel was ineffective for not investigating his case, and that the State of California built a supercilious case to convict a black homeless man just because he was black", Ford said.
"I am working on four death row and four life cases currently", Ford said. "This case with Zachary Pettus is just another rush to judgment case. We are going to kick off the
campaign to free Mr. Pettus on September 28th. I will be in Cincinnati, Ohio and plan to be on a TV show and a couple of radio talk shows with others who believe in Mr.
Pettus's innocence.
Ford was originally born close to Ohio, in York, Pennsylvania in 1954. He attended
elementary school in York, then moved to California. "I am planning to visit my
hometown of York, Pennsylvania while I am back east."
